QUALIFYING: SALAČ TWELFTH AT SPIELBERG

Qualifying – #AustrianGP After the good feeling with the bike in the morning, which helped him seal the direct seed to Q2 with the seventh-quickest time, it is the afternoon heat that made proceedings a lot more challenging for Filip Salač, as the Czech rider struggled in getting up to speed and wrapped up qualifying in twelfth place – meaning he will start tomorrow’s race at Spielberg from the fourth row, aiming at a top-ten result.

A day to forget for Jeremy Alcoba, who for less than two tenths of a second missed the opportunity to be seeded to Q2. Unfortunately, the rider #52 could not find the speed in qualifying one and found himself twenty-fifth as the session drew to a close.

12th – FILIP SALAČ #12 (1’35.048)

It wasn’t an easy day; this morning I struggled to find the pace with the used tyres, then with a new set I was finally able to set a good lap-time and make it into Q2 directly. Then in qualifying it was scorching hot, even worse than yesterday, and we know we struggle in these types of conditions. I was quite fast in the first run, then we put a new rear tyre on but the feeling wasn’t there anymore. It won’t be an easy race tomorrow as the temperatures will be high, but we’ll do our best to bring home a top-ten result.”

25th – JEREMY ALCOBA #52 (1’35.554)

It was an uphill weekend: this morning we thought we had found the right direction as the feeling was better, but then in qualifying I wasn’t able to put together a good lap-time. I tried, even searching for a good slipstream, but I struggled in getting the bike stopped, I was going wide and sliding a lot. We’ll be quite far back on the grid tomorrow, but we’ll work this afternoon to improve the feeling and be in the right conditions for a good comeback.”
