THIRD ROW START FOR RODRIGO AT ARAGON
The Aragon Grand Prix has been after all a good one so far for Team Kömmerling Gresini Moto3 who at MotorLand Aragon, with both riders able to partake in Q2 at the long and fast Spanish track. Gabriel Rodrigo, in particular, was able to through Q1 at the last second with a final thrilling lap – which included an outside manoeuvre on McPhee – to eventually finish the battle for ninth position in ninth place.
Less convincing the performance of Jeremy Alcoba, who was only 16th at the chequered flag of the #AragonGP Q2, but the Spaniard has already shown his speed at this track and a little lack of experience prevented him from battling for the top ten after the home rider made his way easily and directly into qualifying two in the morning’s FP3.
A comeback is required for the young #52 rider, with the Moto3 race to get underway this time at noon local time GMT +2 – while warm up will begin two hours earlier at 10:00.
9th – GABRIEL RODRIGO #2
“I’m very happy. We have been working in a different way this weekend: we lapped on our own a bit more and we improved our race pace a lot more. I believe we’re among the quickest riders in terms of rhythm, which is very important even mentally ahead of tomorrow. I did all my laps without slipstreams and I’m still on the third row. We’re charged up and ready to do well for tomorrow.”
16th – JEREMY ALCOBA #52
“A qualifying session to forget. With the 58.4secs time I did during the weekend I could have been a lot closer to the front of the grid, but the session itself was a disaster: I wasn’t trusting the bike much in the last sector and qualifying, as usual, was more about finding a good slipstream than else. I don’t exclude the possibility of some penalties because it has been quite an absurd session, so tomorrow it will all about putting together another comeback.”
