RODRIGO IMPROVES THROUGHOUT DAY ONE AT #GERMANGP
The opening day of action of the #GermanGP saw TeamKömmerling Gresini Moto3’s Gabriel Rodrigo and Riccardo Rossi 15thand 29th, respectively, in the combined times of the first two practice sessions. It was a bittersweet day for the Argentina, who found himself on the chase of his opponents already after few minutes into the morning session – after a crash at turn 13.
With half session lost due to a low-side – from which he escaped uninjured – the #19 did well in turning his luck around as he finished FP2 only a few thousandths of a second away from the Q2 positions. Rodrigo completed 15 laps with a best time of 1’27.230.
It was a quite different story for Riccardo Rossi, who once again had to come to terms with a track he had never raced upon: the young Italian stayed out on track as much as he could (39 laps completed between today’s two sessions), mostly with the harder tyre choice – which is the go-to option given the very-abrasive surface of the Sachsenring and the high temperatures expected.
15th– GABRI RODRIGO #19
“A first difficult day, especially with today’s crash which took a bit of confidence away – especially as the track conditions were not ideal. I was still missing a few tenths this morning, but we improved bit by bit and made a big step forward in FP2. The reality is that it was the traffic on track that didn’t allow me to set a Q2-worth lap-time. I know I can be quicker in the T2 and there is something to fine-tune in the T3 – but I know I can be among the leaders tomorrow.”
29th– RICCARDO ROSSI #54
“New track for me and I must say I like it, with its long left-handed corners which I feel really comfortable upon. Obviously we’re not where we’d like to be but we’re surely in a better place than Assen. Today I lapped a lot with the hard tyre, which will surely be the tyre to use in the race. I still lose a lot in the faster part of the circuit and before the downhill section, and above all I need to find some more smoother lines. I need more track time.”
