NAVARRO IMPROVES ON QUALIFYING DAY IN AUSTRALIA

There was a lot of work to be done today at Phillip Island for Jorge Navarro and that is exactly what went down on day two at the Australian venue: with more than 40 laps completed in the two sessions, the young Spaniard was able to master this incredible track – which was unforgiving to him at turn four yesterday.

The Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 rider worked hard to find the best set-up for his Kalex machine #9 during FP3 in dry conditions. In qualifying, Navarro was able to secure the 12thspot on the starting grid in what was a very complicated session – which saw Jorge doing better than title contenders Bagnaia and Oliveira.

Tomorrow, from 14:20 local time (GMT+11), the goal will be to return in the top-10 and maybe aim at something more given the encouraging race pace shown today.

12th– JORGE NAVARRO #9

“It was a much more positive day compared to yesterday. We had to find the right feeling with the bike in the morning, but we also understood where to work on in order to be faster in qualifying. Luckily things went our way. We only had one tyre option that I liked at the front and we played our cards quite right. We have some ideas for tomorrow’s warm up, especially in relation to how strong the wind will be out there.”
