SALAČ ON FRONT ROW AFTER QUALIFYING IN TEXAS

Qualifying – #AmericasGP The second day of action at the Circuit of The Americas started off well for Team Moto2 QJMOTOR GRESINI RACING, with both riders seeded directly to Q2 thanks to Salač topping the timesheets in the combined FP times (2’09.385), while Alcoba finished ninth and six tenths away.

Filip Salač was able to set a competitive lap time straight from the get-go in Q2; he then made his way back to the pits before returning to the track and logging a 2’09.548 secs time that allowed him to finish the session at the parc fermé as third quickest. Tomorrow’s front-row start will surely give him a bit of an edge over his opponents.

Jeremy Alcoba rounded out the top ten after being seeded directly to Q2 for the first time in the season. The Rider #52 set a personal best lap-time in 2’09.996, only 0.564secs away from pole. He will head the fourth row of the grid, ready to bring home a good result.

The standard bearers of Team Moto2 QJMOTOR GRESINI RACING will begin their encounter at 12:15 Central Daylight Time (GMT -5).

3rd – FILIP SALAČ #12 (2’09.548)

“It was a positive day for us. This morning we put the new tyre on and we understood that we could have been fast – and showed it by topping the FP timesheets. I was a little preoccupied in the afternoon due to the change of weather, as last year the higher temperatures had created us some issues. It wasn’t the case this year and I was able to give my best from the first lap. I then put new tyres on and managed to further better my times, I was highly motivated and wanted the pole. I pushed as hard as I could and made a few little mistakes, finishing third. The race is tomorrow, however, and we’ll do our best to bring home some points. The championship is still long, so let’s think about enjoying this Texas rodeo!”

10th – JEREMY ALCOBA #52 (2’09.996)

“I’m very happy with today’s work! The track temperature today in qualifying was higher and I was sliding a lot; it was harder to be quick, but we still managed to complete a couple of good laps which made us understand that we can still make a little further step forward. I’m very happy with the work done by the team and let’s see tomorrow what the temperature will be: to be doing 16 laps in this heat will be difficult, but we’re ready!”
