SALAČ NARROWLY MISSES OUT ON FRONT ROW IN FRANCE

Qualifying – #FrenchGP The most typical day at a French Grand Prix saw rain complicating proceedings in FP3 and preventing the two standard bearers of Team Moto2 QJMOTOR GRESINI RACING of trying a new set-up configuration. Qualifying took place in sunny conditions, with Filip Salač able to immediately set a competitive lap-time in 1’36.135secs as he claimed fourth place on the grid, ready to hopefully deliver a race among the protagonists.

Jeremy Alcoba had more of a difficult day: the wet Free Practice 3 session did not allow him to improve his personal best-lap time, meaning the Spaniard had no other chance but to test himself in Q1 – this time in dry conditions. He tried an adjustment to the set-up of his Kalex machine, but was unable to make it into Q2. He will start tomorrow’s race from the 20th place on the grid, ready for a comeback performance.

4th – FILIP SALAČ #12 (1’36.135)

“Today was a difficult day: unfortunately we didn’t have time to try a new set-up in the morning’s free practice due to track conditions. We kind of entering qualifying without knowing what to expect, but we had fun and fourth place on the grid is surely good. I’ll need to stay focused tomorrow, just like today, and have a mistake-free race.”

20th – JEREMY ALCOBA #52 (1’36.836)

“I’m not very happy with today. The track was unfortunately wet in FP3 and that means we couldn’t try the set-up adjustments we had planned: we had to do it in Q1, but the result was not as expected; we need to keep working on it, we’re far from the leaders right now but we’ll get there soon!”
