NAVARRO DOWN IN EIGHTH ROW IN SILVERSTONE QUALIFYING

Jorge Navarro and Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 endured a difficult weekend at Silverstone, where the qualifying session of #BritishGP for the class were delayed by almost an hour due to track conditions in previous sessions.

Despite the dry track the Moto2 riders were unable to improve their pace compared to free practice, and for Navarro it was difficult to find the right feeling with his Kalex machine #9. This morning’s crash in the final seconds of FP3 at turn one surely did not help his afternoon performance.

Even though he was able to put together two decent quick-lap attempts in the final moments of qualifying, he only got away with 22nd, meaning he will start towards the back of the grid in the twelfth race of the season – which will begin at 14:30 local time (GMT +1) after the MotoGP encounter.

22nd– JORGE NAVARRO #9

“I felt good on the bike this morning in dry conditions. We started qualifying on damp track and maybe we did not use the best strategy. Both times we went out with soft tyre and that didn’t allow me to find a good rhythm as it last more or less two laps. In the final part of the session everyone managed to improve, but I had a harder time in doing so. Now we can only get as ready as we can for tomorrow and aim for a comeback – and hopefully it won’t rain.”
