Q2 IN SAFE HANDS FOR LOWES AT MOTEGI

With the rain likely to its appearance tomorrow at the Twin Ring Motegi – the venue hosting the 16thand fourth-last event of the MotoGP World Championship – a good Friday result was even more crucial. Sam Lowes and Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 worked in this direction as they completed a ‘mini’ race simulation while trying to set the quickest-possible time in order to get direct access to Q2 already from today.

Mission accomplished, as the time logged by the British rider (1’50.929) turned out to be the fifth-quickest of the day, with Lowes finishing less than two tenths away from provisional pole; the race pace for Sunday is also already very promising. Moto2 proceedings will resume tomorrow morning, with FP3 getting underway at 9:55 local time (GMT +9) and qualifying two scheduled later on In the day at 13:55.

5th– SAM LOWES #22

“Overall it was a good Friday. This morning we only used a set of tyres and we found a first feeling for it. Then in the afternoon I did a long run that went as expected, and with the new tyre in the last part of the session we set three good times. It was important to be within the Q2 group and we worked very really hard, especially given the change of raining for FP3 tomorrow.”
