TEAM DEL CONCA GRESINI HEADS TO MONTMELO WITH HIGH HOPES

Team Del Conca Gresini Moto3 has had a very competitive first third of the 2017 Moto3 World Championship, with four pole positions and six podiums in the first six events. The only thing missing is, so far, is the top step of the rostrum: this is the one thing Fabio Di Giannantonio and Jorge Martin have in their agenda for this weekend’s Catalunya Grand Prix.

‘Diggia’ came hundredths of a second away from his first win in the series a few days ago in Mugello and he is now looking forward to giving it another try in Spain: not only for the result in itself, but also for the title race, which sees Fabio currently third.

Martin will try to bounce back after a couple of difficult performances in the last two races and get back on level of form he has shown early on in the season, when he was a regular contender for the podium and was able to match on Sunday the same speed he showed the day before in qualifying.

The first free practice session of the quarter-litre class will get underway at 9:00 local time (GMT +2).

FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO #21

“With two consecutive podiums and some good races so far in the year – apart from the disappointment of Argentina – we get to Barcelona with great energy and confidence. The bike has improved a lot at Mugello and I’m pretty sure it’ll suit Montmeló quite well, too. I want to be in the top three again, because I’m really starting to enjoy it!”

JORGE MARTIN #88

“I’m really looking forward to racing at Montmeló: I’ve always been quite fast there and it’s another home race for me. We need to focus more on our race performance because there’s nothing to improve on the single lap. We need to understand what’s going on, although I’m sure we’ll soon find the solution and we’ll come back even stronger.”
