MARTIN WITHIN THE TOP-5 AT TERMAS DE RIO HONDO

The opening of action for the second event of the 2018 MotoGP World Championship has drawn to a close, with Team Del Conca Gresini riders hard at work to find a good set-up for the recently-resurfaced – in many areas – track of Termas de Rio Hondo.

Jorge Martin looked comfortable straight away aboard his Honda NSF250RW #88, for he ended up the opening session in second place before finishing the day in the top-5. The young Spanish rider mainly lapped on his own and with used tyres as he focused on what looks already a good race pace.

Fabio Di Giannantonio had more of a difficult time, with the Italian finishing no higher than 21st and with some work to do ahead of tomorrow’s qualifying.

5th –  JORGE MARTIN #88

“The track was quite dirty this morning and with very little grip due to the new asphalt. I felt quite comfortable anyway; in the afternoon we worked with both compounds to understand which will be the best tyre to use this Sunday. We’re not sure, but it’s obvious that we’re already in a good position with dry conditions, while we need to see if it’ll be the case to work with wet settings, too.”

21st – FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO #21

“Today was one of those days to forget – even though we know where we need to improve. The grip wasn’t good and surely the new asphalt didn’t help. I really want to have a good qualifying session tomorrow.”
