TOP-5 FOR TEAM DEL CONCA GRESINI IN DAY TWO AT JEREZ
Team Del Conca Gresini Moto3’s Jorge Martin and Fabio Di Giannantonio have successfully carried out the second day of testing at Jerez in preparation for the opening Grand Prix of the 2018 Moto3 World Championship – which will take place in slightly more than a month in Qatar.
Blessed by perfect weather and track conditions, both Jorge Martin (1’45.785) and Fabio Di Giannantonio (1’46.470) set competitive times around the Spanish circuit as they ended up second and fifth fastest, respectively.
For the winner of the final race of last season Martin there was time for a longer run after the work with the engine brake was completed. On the other side of the garage, Diggia managed to solve his rear-end grip issues as he improved on yesterday’s personal best lap-time by 0.8secs.
This second test of the year will draw to a close tomorrow with the final day of action.
JORGE MARTIN #88
“The engine brake issues and problems under braking are now behind us courtesy of a very productive day. We showed a good pace in the high 46s and with the medium compound tyre we were even able to break the 1’46secs barrier. It was important to put in a lot work and try to get the times without using soft tyres. Generally speaking I’m really happy as things are improving day after day and hopefully tomorrow we’ll be able to complete this three-day test on a high note.”
FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO #21
“It was another positive day in which again we didn’t look at the stopwatch. We found some useful settings both at the front and at the rear ends of the bike, which I’m not starting to like. I enjoy riding my Honda and I like the way we’re working: we still need to find something with the engine brake and that’s what we’ll focus on tomorrow.”
