ENEA AND DI DIGGIA’S EFFORTS END IN Q1 AT VALENCIA
#ValenciaGP qualifying. Saturday’s on track action drew to a close earlier than expected for Enea Bastianini, who did not manage to live up to the expectations after yesterday’s promising performance and, with two crashes (one at turn ten during FP3 and the other at turn two in Q1) he still ended up only a few milliseconds away from Q2. He will therefore start tomorrow’s race from row 5 (13th position).
A comeback will be needed, once more, in order to claim third place in the championship standings: he will need to finish ahead of Aleix Espargaró, who will line up ahead of the Italian in tenth place.
Fabio Di Giannantonio’s last race of the season will begin from 19th place on the grid. The Italian set his personal quickest time of the weekend so far in Q1 (1’30.695secs), slightly more than half a second away from his soon ex-teammate. The goal for him will be to finish in the top 15 before focusing on 2023 with the first official test on Tuesday at the same track.

“We made some steps forward in FP4, but the crashed affected our confidence to some degree. Our race pace isn’t too bed and we still can make some further adjustments to the set-up during warmup. The goal of finishing the season in the top three is still alive.”

“Another difficult day. We made a small step forward time attack wise, but we were hoping for something more. It’s the last race of the year and we’d like to honour it with a top-15 finish, which is not that far. We still have some decisions to make before the race and we hope the warmup will be an enlightening one.”
