ALL SMILES IN TEAM DEL CONCA GRESINI MOTO3’S GARAGE ON DAY 1

The opening day of free practice for the Red Bull Grand Prix of The Americas has undoubtedly been a positive one for Team Del Conca Gresini Moto3, with Jorge Martin and Fabio Di Giannantonio both at the sharp end of the field.

Spain’s Martin was the quickest in both of today sessions, as he clocked in 2’20.005secs at the end of FP1 before improving his personal best lap-time by almost three seconds in the afternoon (2’17.423). Diggia’s step forward between Free Practice 1 and 2 was even bigger as the young Italian improved by 3.019secs to claim third place at the end of the first day of action in Austin drew to a close.

Moto3 action will continue tomorrow with Free Practice 3 and Qualifying, which will take place at 9:00 and 12:35 local time (GMT -5), respectively.

1st – JORGE MARTIN #88

“I’m really happy with how today’s gone, I was really looking forward to getting here and do well as I’ve always had something happening here, but today everything went perfect. The track was a bit dirty in the morning, but things improved a lot during FP2. In any case, we’re in the lead at the moment and we’ll wait for tomorrow to keep pushing and improving.”

3rd – FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO #21

“Today went really well. This morning the track was in really bad shape while in the afternoon I felt very good aboard the bike. I was quick both on hard and soft tyres and I mainly lapped on my own, which means a lot because slipstreams at this track are crucial”.
