NAVARRO TARGETS PODIUM AFTER POSITIVE QUALIFYING
Jorge Navarro has claimed a second row start for the Moto2 World Championship race at Motorland Aragón after logging a 1’53.922secs lap time in today’s qualifying. From the sixth place on the grid, the Spaniard will try to get in the mix with the front-runners in tomorrow’s 21-lap encounter.
This morning, the rider of Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 managed to find with his crew – which is led by Tommaso Ramponi – a good set-up for his Kalex machine. During FP3, in fact, Navarro lapped consistently in 1’54.1secs range while brearking the 1’54secs barrier in a couple of occasions. The series rookie is now very confident of his chances to improve on his so-far best result in the season – a sixth place scored twice at Montmeló and Sachsenring.
With many fans ready to give him support from the “Corkscrew” section of the track, Navarro’s race will begin at 12:20 local time (GMT +2).
6th – JORGE NAVARRO #9
“It’s been a very positive day. The changes we made this morning paid off immediately and I was feeling really good with the bike in race configuration. During qualifying we found a great pace which could allow us to be in the top-5, but my goal will be to battle for a podium finish in order to give something back to the team and to the many fans who are here to support me.”
